Microscopic Assasin

The tree pollen has arrived.

God help me.

I'll never get over just how excruciating this actually is. Like having a cold, flu and sinus infection all at once. I am woman, hear me roar and all - I can make dinner with one hand and rearrange the furniture with another. I am faster than a 10-items-or-less fast lane and can leap tall transition areas in a single bound. I can take a bikini wax without batting an eye. How is it such a teeny, tiny invisible thing can destroy me so utterly?

While the pollen doesn't affect me in that way, I watch my big, strong,, fast and resilient husband battle with it each year. It's nasty stuff. Here's hoping it isn't as bad as last year!

Springtime is so bitter sweet like that, isn't it? I'm in the same boat. I'm loving the nicer temperatures we're getting, but damn those allergies are a killer!

Me too. I am particularly (get that pun? particular, particle, tree pollen is a particle, wait is that a pun or just dumb?) fond of the raw red throat that BURNS like a blowtorch when I'm out there biking.

Geez...I'm going to sound like a nutjob again, but here goes: Try a neti pot.

I used to live in Ohio and was just hammered this time of the year with allergies. I never thought the human body could produce so much snot!

Once I moved to the arid Southwest, the allergies disappeared for about 10 years, then came back with a vengenance. Upon the advice of my coach & friend, I started using a neti pot as part of my daily early morning routine.

I have yet to have one sinus infection or allergy attack in two years. My wife, who at first thought I was going farther off the deep end, is also a convert.

Just Google "neti pot" and you'll see what I mean.

Good luck with your allergies.

I'm glad I'm unaffected. I couldn't take that when all I want to do is get out into the Spring Air!!

I'm allergic to lots of trees and plants. It's funny how you can feel it in that special allergy way at least a week before they start giving the pollen warnings.

Hope things are going well. :)
